reflecting on my first year.....

I hope all is well. It's crazy how this year has gone so fast. I want to talk to everyone about my first year in college which went pretty well. During the first months, I wanted to get acclimated to the new city I was in and learned how to do things away from my family. Although I was nervous, I learned how to adjust to living on my own.

I am a sports management major. As a result, I managed to meet a lot of new classmates and professionals in my industry. One day I had to attend an industry professional day where I had to meet with other organizations in my field. I managed to meet with Temple University's Athletic Department. I applied to be an event operations intern and got the position on the spot.

I began my internship in January 2024 where I was responsible for setting up for various sport competitions, and making sure the event was organized and ready for the athletes to participate in. One of my favorite events was being a score runner at a gymnastics meet. I enjoyed learning about gymnastics and had fun. Overall the internship allowed me to get the skills I needed to work in the collegiate sports world, and learn about the amount of work effort and time commitment you have to put in to succeed.

During my spring break, I was able to participate in both the Sloan Analytics Conference in Boston and the Black Sports Agent Bootcamp in Washington, D.C. I had the opportunity to network with numerous professionals in the industry and share contact details for potential future collaborations.

One thing I can take from this first year is that college is a place for you to grow. You get to learn who you are as a person. You get to meet people to help you blossom as a human being. By going to Temple University, I was able to get out of my comfort zone, meet new people, and have fun.

Thank you for reading my blog post. I can't wait to share more during the summer. Go Hoop!
