We did it! Our hard work paid off. Outside J's first 3v3 basketball tournament was a success! Last Sunday, October 9th, we had over 100 people in attendance for our organization's first basketball tournament for the community. My church, Faithful Central Bible Church, partnered with me on the event because they believed in what I was doing. This made me extremely proud and encouraged me even more!
Preparing for the event took a lot of hard work so I want to thank my mom for helping me coordinate everything while I juggled school. I'm super thankful to my friends (Elijah, Hassani, Sam, Jamal, Benjamin, Eric, and Keenan) for coming through to be score keepers and referees. Pastor Rondell and my dad helped me alot on the day of the event by serving as referees and coordinating the tournament brackets. Also, I want to thank NBA Twitter King Josiah for providing a donation towards the event which helped secure the event venue. All of these things helped move things forward and I am super grateful!
I can't forget to mention the music provided by djayejaye which was FIRE!! She made the event come to life. The basketball swag snack bags, food, and all of the dozens of volunteers that helped kept things moving forward. Thank you to all the kids from the community that came and played on the blacktops which is who the event was for!
What's next? I want to do the event again this spring with more people from the community and event sponsors. The sky's the limit! Let's go!
